The Major Reasons For Your Interest On The Profession Of...

1. Discuss the major reasons for your interest in the profession of social work. Whether positive or negative - what inspired or moved you to choose this direction? I made the decision prior to graduating with my bachelor’s degree in 2013 that I wanted to become a social worker. I have always enjoyed working with people and becoming a social worker would enable me to have a positive impact in individual’s lives. I waited until 2015 to start this journey as my husband had been in the military and I was unable to pursue a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) due to the required field work. However, now that we are permanently settled in Jacksonville, FL I am able to accomplish this dream. I feel that individuals deserve to work with social workers who have a deep desire to create a change or help implement a change in their lives. Every future client has a history, and it is my responsibility to help their future be bright. 2. Describe any experiences you have had working in a helping capacity to serve people in either a personal, volunteer or paid position. Share the length of time, population, the type of setting and discuss your personal strengths and limitations in these roles. I was recently hired in the summer of last year to create a math GED program for the Jacksonville Public Library.
